Everyone of us has visited a shopping mall for either shopping or relaxing on weekend - though the shopping expereince is good but the major challenge is standing in the checking out queue.
At times we have only few items but need to stand in the queue especially a much longer queue on weekend or during festival seasons...hence to cut short the time in these queue; i propose a small change in the cart design which will help us reduce the time to almost zero....
following is the methodology proposed:

Now to make it more shopping and customer friendly; we can now close the top loading by soft leather bars/ ropes and on the front is a unit....the cart will now look like this:
on the front we can have a unit which comprise of a scanner and display unit:
Scanner - will scan the items from scanner which we plan to buy and then put it inside the cart once its done on the same unit the no of items bought / price and total amt is calulcated automatically...
this will now look like this:
Benefit of adopting this technology/ system:
the scanning work and arriving at total cost is done by the customer and he is responsible for the items that he plans to buy - once the total amount is arrived...he walks to the checkout gate and pays the amount by cash/card and its done....
Total time saved almost 99% and had a wonderful individual shopping experience for customer.
Manpower and time saving for the Mall owners as this activity is done by the customer; only investment is the wireless technology adoption and integration with their existing MIS and warehouse system - initially this can be also made available on chargeable basis and seperate queue for those who use it....slowly there will be increase in takers and win win combination for both the mall and customers.
